Another Milestone Reached.

Milestones:  Baby Popcorn’s Shower and Brunch

I reached another one Saturday.  My Goddaughter is pregnant with her first baby.  A baby girl.  We will get to meet her sometime around the middle of September.   Beyond excited.  Is there anything better than the feel, touch, sounds and smells of a newborn?  Johnson’s baby powder, lotion and shampoo produce strong sense memories and such a feeling of peace for me.  I can’t wait to hold her and feed her and yes even change a few diapers.  I want to relish each moment and remember when her mother was born.  She was such a beautiful baby.  I loved all things related to my baby Goddaughter, still do.
Saturday I hosted a baby shower for Tia (my Goddaughter) and Popcorn (the baby’s name until she arrives).  It seems like yesterday when we were having showers for Popcorn’s Grandmother, “Marmie” awaiting Tia’s arrival.  An earlier milestone along this journey of life.  They are all special gifts to be cherished.  I don’t want to forget a one.

We set up a photo booth in my screened porch; we had hand painted signs with words and phrases used as props for our photo sessions.  Such creative minds in our little group, some of the photos were hilarious, happy, cute, sentimental and timelessly fun.  Of course we played a couple of games and handed out prizes to the winners.  Conversation and advice flew around the room, memories shared and made.
Gifts were given and paper and ribbons torn with tenderness and excitement.  The incredible talents of some were highlighted by the handmade baby clothes, hand stitched onesies, bibs, dresses, booties, socks, caps and more.   This baby will be very well adorned, she will even have handmade CASHMERE socks and cap, luscious!  Tia received a “to be redeemed later” gift from Aunt Laura.  It included fabric swatches and patterns for Tia to choose from so that she can make dresses for Popcorn when she is a bit older.  How fun to have that to look forward too.  Oh Tina, how about some of those socks in my size??   Peggy, I have always thought the adults caring for the baby should be wearing the bibs….think you could whip up some adult sizes?  Please?

Of course we ate and drank. The menu consisted of the following:
Oven baked Blueberry French Toast
Scrambled Eggs
Bacon & Ham
Cheese Crispies
Croissants
Pineapple Casserole
Spinach Dip
Rice Salad with Artichoke Hearts
Yogurt Parfaits with Fruit and Granola
Strawberries, Blueberries, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Oranges, and Kiwi
